The education program called pre-HEM is a specific stage in music education dedicated to preparing students for the entrance examinations of elite music education institutes, in order to become a professional musician. This is equivalent to the term “pre-college” in English, as used in the reference document of the AEC (Association européenne des conservatoires).
With this in mind, the HEMU and Lausanne’s Conservatoire have opened a pre-HEM section in September 2011.
Training is dispensed by both schools, which have been evolving in narrow pedagogical collaboration within the same institute since 1861 and share a building and an infrastructure of great quality.
