Music Pedagogy Classic

The Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy program prepares students for careers in teaching music, within music schools, conservatoires up to the Music university level, or in public schools up to the secondary II level. This study pathway is an essential part of the musician's professional portfolio.

The study plan gives prominence to the training in the main discipline (as a performer or creator) while preserving the ensembles activities. The specific training in general pedagogy and didactics is complemented by practical training in teaching situations.

The two years of study lead to a master project built around three axes: artistic (concert-mediation), pedagogical and reflective (professional thesis).

The HEMU proposes two different orientations for the Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy:

German-speaking candidates who have been admitted to the Master's programme in Music Education at the HEMU – Fribourg-Freiburg may, upon submitting a justified request, take the teaching module at the Bern University of Applied Sciences / Bern Academy of the Arts.

Deutschsprachige Bewerberinnen und Bewerber, die zum Masterstudiengang Musikpädagogik am Standort der HEMU – Fribourg-Freiburg zugelassen sind, können auf begründeten Antrag das pädagogische Modul an der Berner Fachhoschule / Hochschule der Künste Bern absolvieren.
