MUSIC PEDAGOGY
Master
The Master of Arts in Music Pedagoy prepares students for a career as a music teacher in music schools, conservatoires, music colleges or public secondary schools. This programme, which is an essential part of a musician's professional development, combines artistic practice with teaching skills.
The curriculum emphasises the main discipline (performance or composition) while maintaining ensemble activities. Students receive in-depth training in general pedagogy and didactics, as well as undertaking practical teaching placements.
The two years of study culminate in a Master's project structured around three areas: artistic (concert mediation), pedagogical, and reflective (professional dissertation).
This programme prepares students to convey their passion for music with rigour and creativity.

For the completion of your registration file, a criminal record extract is also necessary.
German-speaking candidates who have been admitted to the Master's programme in Music Education at the HEMU – Fribourg-Freiburg may, upon submitting a justified request, take the teaching module at the Bern University of Applied Sciences / Bern Academy of the Arts.
Deutschsprachige Bewerberinnen und Bewerber, die zum Masterstudiengang Musikpädagogik am Standort der HEMU – Fribourg-Freiburg zugelassen sind, können auf begründeten Antrag das pädagogische Modul an der Berner Fachhoschule / Hochschule der Künste Bern absolvieren.
