HEMU Jazz Orchestra
A true accelerator of experience, the HEMU Jazz Orchestra offers young musicians the opportunity to enter the professional music scene and perform with established artists.
Made up of students pursuing a Master's degree in performance at the HEMU – Haute École de Musique, the ensemble aims to represent the future generation of the jazz scene. The HEMU Jazz Orchestra covers a wide repertoire and each project allows these young talents to work under the artistic direction of one or more internationally renowned musicians, guests artists or HEMU teachers, and to perform alongside them. In recent years, the HEMU Jazz Orchestra has welcomed renowned artists such as Uri Caine, Eleonora Strino, Marilyn Mazur, Dave Liebman, Richard Galliano, Nik Bärtsch and Bojan Z.
Thanks to its extensive network of partners, the HEMU Jazz Orchestra performs several times a year in prestigious venues as the Cully Jazz Festival, JazzOnze+ Festival and Nova Jazz Festival.
The HEMU Jazz Orchestra consists of three to five permanent musicians, who are joined by other students from the HEMU's jazz and classical music programmes, depending on the project.
