German-speaking candidates admitted to the Master’s program in Music Education with an instrumental or vocal specialization at HEMU – Fribourg-Freiburg may, upon a motivated request, take the pedagogical module at the Bern University of Applied Sciences / Bern University of the Arts.
Deutschsprachige Bewerberinnen und Bewerber, die zum Masterstudiengang Musikpädagogik mit der Ausrichtung Instrumental oder Vokal am Standort der HEMU – Fribourg-Freiburg zugelassen sind, können auf begründeten Antrag das pädagogische Modul an der Berner Fachhoschule / Hochschule der Künste Bern absolvieren.
Bachelor Access – Higher Education Entrance Certificate (Swiss Maturity or Equivalent Qualification)
For Bachelor’s admission, the following diplomas are recognized as equivalent to the Swiss Maturity Certificate:
- Baccalauréat
- Zeugnis der allgemeinen Hochschulreife (Abitur)
- General Certificate of Education (GCE)
- Kotogakko
- etc.
In addition to instrumental skills, Bachelor candidates must demonstrate solid theoretical knowledge. All candidates who pass the instrumental or vocal exam are required to take a theoretical test.

Transcripts and academic records issued in French, English, German, Italian, or Spanish are accepted.
However, a translation into French or English is required for documents in other languages.
Financial aid may be granted starting from the third semester of studies at HEMU.
During the first year, only exceptional aid can cover a portion of the tuition fees.
