Organization
The HEMU-CL Foundation's mission is to educate professional and amateur musicians, conduct research, and promote musical culture. It oversees the HEMU – Haute École de Musique and the Conservatoire de Lausanne.
In 2023, the HEMU-CL Governance Committee was established. This committee comprises the Director General, the Secretary General, and the Director of the Lausanne Conservatory. The committee manages cross-cutting issues for both schools: It shares resources and assumes responsibility for joint activites.
The HEMU Management Board is responsible for overseeing the Haute école in educational, scientific, artistic, administrative and financial matters. It defines HEMU's strategy and collectively assumes cross-cutting tasks specific to HEMU. Site directors join the management team to form the Exectuve Management Committee, which coordinates operational elements, organises teaching and develops and implement artistic, academic and financial strategy.
The HEMU has a presence in three cantons - Vaud, Valais and Fribourg - which are referred to as "sites", each of which is led by a director and a deputy director.
Classical music is taught at all three sites, while jazz and pop music are taught at the Flon campus in Lausanne, which is part of the HEMU – Vaud.
