HEMU Wind Orchestra
Founded in 2012, the HEMU Wind Orchestra is a wind ensemble comprising students from the brass and woodwind departments of the HEMU – Fribourg-Freiburg and HEMU – Vaud. Led by guest conductors, the orchestra offers a complementary dimension to orchestral practice. Highly flexible in terms of instrumentation, the orchestra performs a diverse repertoire based on chamber harmony.
The HEMU – Fribourg-Freiburg is the centre of excellence for brass teaching. In keeping with the excellence of the canton's wind ensembles, the Fribourg-Freiburg campus is committed to providing its students with a wide range of musical experiences, with ensemble music playing a prominent role.
Today, the HEMU Wind Orchestra performs under renowned conductors such as Philippe Ferro and Paul Meyer from France. The orchestra collaborates with other HEMU ensembles, such as the HEMU Contemporary Ensemble, and performs at festivals including the Festival International de Musiques Sacrées de Fribourg (FIMS).
