Music Performance Classic

The Master of Arts in Music Performance prepares for the professions of performing musician at a high level of artistic training, allowing access to the job market as a self-employed artist or working in production institutions: orchestras, opera houses.

The large number of orientations makes it possible to cover, within the field of music, all the professions of music performance.

The study plan gives prominence to the training in the main discipline (as instrumentalist, singer or choir director). A specific training allows the student to deepen their overall experience in different formations: orchestra, chamber ensembles. A reflection on practice (research in seminars) completes the study plan.

The orchestral orientation includes internships within professional Swiss orchestras.

The two years of study lead to a master's project built around three axes related to the profession: artistic production (recital), ensemble practice and reflection.

The HEMU offers five different orientations for the Master of Arts in Music Performance:

  • Concert
  • Orchestra
  • Accompaniment
  • Conducting
  • Direction of Wind Instrument Ensembles

Xavier Delette, Head of MA concert and accompaniment
Philippe Savoy, Head of MA orchestra
Benedikt Hayoz, Head of MA orchestra conducting and wind ensembles
